Sally Darlington born 1967 in Nantwich, Cheshire, graduated in 1989 from the world famous Glasgow School of Art, where sally studied Embroidered and Woven Textiles.
Sallys successful track record since graduating in 1989 has covered a number of different fields both in the UK and overseas, from designing contract floorcoverings for BMK Ltd in Scotland to working with Voluntary Services Overseas as a Fashion and Fabrics teacher in a rural secondary school in Zimbabwe and a lecturer of Fashion and Textiles at Takoradi Polytechnic, Ghana. Sally spent 4 years in Ghana developing the HND course and in her fourth year became Head of the Department.
Between 1989 and 1994 Sally was an exhibiting member of the Glasgow School of Art Graduate Textile Group. In 1990 Sally was voted on to the groups committee taking on a more active role. By 1991 the group had renamed to the One 67. While working at BMK Ltd in Kilmarnock along with 4 other designer/artists from the company, formed
a group named Take Five, who exhibited in small galleries throughout the area.
Sally returned to the UK from Africa in 2000 and worked as a Design Technology teacher at Buttershaw High School in Bradford.
Sally now lives in Todmorden, West Yorkshire and currently works as a part-time activities manager for Age Concern Calderdale.
Sally has continued to develop her own textile work independantly and has exhibitited in galleries throughout Scotland and England. In 2006 Sally opened her own gallery in Todmorden, called ntAMa (Ghanian for cloth) which has been successful for the local artistic community.
